New Year 2009 We will be having lots of fun over the New Year holiday at Open Arms/ Brazos Abiertos. On New Years Eve morning Santa may have left you a little late surprise outside your door. We will start the New Year festivities off with egg nog during the morning and you can choose to laze around, read, or perhaps indulge your self with a treatment before a buffet lunch. In the evening we will be serving cocktails in the lounge and then there will be a few more New Year gifts under the Christmas tree. We will be serving a Gala New Years Eve Dinner and if you have any room left at the end of the evening, you can take part in a traditional Spanish custom. New Year's Eve in Spain is known as Noche Vieja. It is a custom to stay at home till midnight and at midnight people eat twelve grapes, one at each stroke of the clock. This is supposed to bring good luck and happiness in the New Year. You can see the New Year in twice!! Once for the UK and again once again for Spain! If you see a lot of red underwear for sale in the shops here, don’t be surprised as Spanish people believe that wearing red underwear on New Year's Eve brings good luck……so don’t forget your red undies!! During your stay you will have the opportunity to visit the many wonderful Nativity scenes put up in all the local villages and towns. For those of you who have a sweet tooth there are two chocolate factories just 10 minutes drive from us and one of them has a huge nativity scene on show and all in chocolate of course.
